Australian Job Applicant Must Undergo Rigorous Culture Scrubbing Before Working With L.A. Fashion House

LOS ANGELES—Advised that perhaps she should embrace more of her inner California girl and use less of her “strange Aussie phrasing”, job applicant Ivy Forrester told reporters Friday that she was taken aback when her interviewer, Quinn Fuller, told her that she could use a girl of her talents, but first she must stop being old-fashioned and too formal—traits Fuller blamed on the woman’s Australian upbringing. Forrester’s god-awful lace dress and overwhelming politeness also drew sharp criticism.

“She wondered if my accent was the issue and I said I didn’t understand how that played a part in me functioning in the role.” Before long Forrester said she was dragged off to a dressing room to have her offensive Australian mannerisms and culture scrubbed and cleaned away before the next phase of her interview process could begin.

A source close to the two women revealed to reporters that they found it odd that Forrester was so desperate to work with Fuller let alone work in Los Angeles. “She hasn’t had the best luck here, I’m afraid,” said the source who insisted on complete anonymity before agreeing to speak to the press. “Ivy was pushed by Quinn into the Seine River in Paris back in July 2014. That was some nasty business, but nothing could’ve been more ill-fated than her feud with Steffy Spencer. Her run-ins with Steffy landed her in the hospital three times! Once for electrocution and twice with head injuries! The woman has more lives than a back alley cat. So you can imagine how surprised we all were when she showed up to Forrester to interview with Quinn. She owns a jewelry business in Australia. Why come back here for more abuse?”

Employees Cora Jones and Chris Hinkbottom wondered the same when Fuller requested an emergency makeover session in the middle of the workday. The in-house hairstylist and make-up artist couldn’t believe Ivy had returned and was seeking to be reinstated at the fashion house. “Quinn hated her Australian hair and told me to clip extensions in,” said Jones. Added Hinkbottom, “She wanted me to paint her Australian eyelids with my trademark winged eyeliner technique”. The pair also told reporters that Fuller insisted that Forrester not be a “crocodile hunter” and lose her thick Australian accent.

Jones went on to note that despite Fuller’s repeated requests for outfit changes by the end of the session small traces of Australia was still noticeable on the young woman. “I guess Quinn may need an exorcist or something if she wants Australia completely gone.”
