How long have you been a soap opera fan and which soaps do you watch?
Well, my mother has watched soaps before I was even born so, I guess in a way, I was always fated to get into soaps myself. I remember loving the old General Hospital days with the Nikolas & Emily romance when flicking through channels on one of my off-school days, however, I really couldn’t get into soaps until I was out of school since I’m only 27 now.
Currently, I watch the four remaining soaps, The Young and the Restless, The Bold & the Beautiful, General Hospital and Days Of Our Lives, but GH is the one I watch the least. I miss the Sonny & Brenda and the Nikolas & Emily days. Of course I didn’t watch a lot of it live, but with all the scenes I’ve seen of them from the past 10 years, it feels like I did.
What gave you the idea for this video edit?
I have been wanting to make a Phyllis & Billy video for about seven months, but nothing came to my mind so I did not want to force the issue, but then of course Philly went through the whole affair reveal, so when she and Billy started sharing scenes together again I felt it was the perfect time to FINALLY make a video of them.
What do you love/hate about your fave soap right now?
Overall my favorite soap opera has always been The Young & The Restless… until late 2016 hit — there was something about Y&R that really stopped clicking with me. Although, I do have to admit that Mal Young’s recent changes has me optimistic about the future because I am slowly enjoying the show again. However, for this moment General Hospital has leaped up to be my favorite soap. Bringing Steve Burton back was the best thing that GH did in a very long time, because for me, I only really cared for GH when Nikolas Cassadine was on the show, so, I was very upset when I found out that GH and Tyler Christopher could not work out any kind of agreement for a contract extension.
I love that one storyline is actually affecting all the storylines. The tale of the two Jason’s and trying to figure out which one is which is an emotional roller coaster ride that has been full of twist, turns and shockers. The pace is moving much quicker than I expected but it’s not rushed and it’s actually working.
If I can name one thing I do not like, it’s probably the whole Ashley is not an Abbott reveal. I feel that was always going to be such a huge moment and there really wasn’t any real follow up from what was suppose to be one of the longest kept soaps secrets.
